Sister Cities Photography Competition 2018

Anfang März wurde der Colorclub Rostock vom Capital City Camera Club in Raleigh (der Hauptstadt des US-Bundesstaates North Carolina) gefragt, ob Interesse und Bereitschaft bestünde, an einem Fotowettbewerb unter Partnerstädten teilzunehmen. Der CCCC hatte schon im vorigen Jahr einen sehr erfolgreichen Wettbewerb mit der Brooklands Photographic Society in Kingston Upon Hull in England sowie einem weiteren (ungenannten) Phtoclub in den Niederlanden. Weil Rostock eine Partnerstadt von Raleigh ist, war es für den Colorclub Rostock eine Ehrensache, im 800sten Jahr der Stadt Rostock an diesem Wettbewerb teilzunehmen. Der Zeitplan war sehr eng, weil die Fotos schon zum Ende April in Raleigh sein sollten. Außerdem gab es eine weitere Hürde: jeder Club beteiligt sich mit 20 Bildern von 20 Fotografen an dem Wettbewerb. Der Colorclub Rostock hat aber zur Zeit nur 17 Mitglieder. Wir konnten uns aber mit dem CCCC einigen, dass 3 Rostocker Fotografen sich mit zwei Bildern beteiligen können. Der entscheidende Clubabend in Raleigh fand am 04.06.2018 statt. Alle vorgelegten 60 Bilder wurden von dem renommierten Fotografen John Stanton - Mitglied der American Society of Photographers und des British Institute of Photography - bewertet und die erreichten Bewertungspunkte (zwischen 10 und 20 für ein Bild) für die teilnehmenden Fotoclubs addiert. Es gibt also keine eindeutigen Siegerbilder sondern nur unterschiedlich gute Fotoclubs. Das Endergebnis sieht die drei Clubs nahe beieinander: Brooklands 312 Punkte, Raleigh 337 Punkte und Rostock 297 Punkte.

At the beginning of March, the Colorclub Rostock was asked by the Capital City Camera Club in Raleigh (the capital of the US state of North Carolina) whether they were interested and willing to take part in a photo competition among twin cities. Last year the CCCC already had a very successful competition with the Brooklands Photographic Society in Kingston Upon Hull in England and another (unnamed) Phtoclub in the Netherlands. Since Rostock is a twin city of Raleigh, it was a matter of honour for the Colorclub Rostock to take part in this competition in the 800th year of the city of Rostock. The schedule was very tight, because the photos should be in Raleigh by the end of April. There was also another hurdle: each club took 20 photos from 20 photographers. The Colorclub Rostock has only 17 members at the moment. But we could agree with the CCCC that 3 Rostock photographers can participate with two pictures. The decisive club evening in Raleigh took place on 04.06.2018. All 60 submitted pictures were evaluated by the renowned photographer John Stanton - member of the American Society of Photographers and the British Institute of Photography - and the achieved evaluation points (between 10 and 20 for one picture) were added for the participating photo clubs. So there are no clear winners but only photo clubs of different quality. The final result shows the three clubs close together: Brooklands 312 points, Raleigh 337 points and Rostock 297 points.
